After the Lavo tribe arrived back to camp after the tribal council where Aysha was voted off, we were blessed with plenty of different reactions. We saw how disappointed Sol was, how conflicted Teeny was, and how confident Rome was. Sol felt blindsided, Teeny was trying not to let emotions get in the way, and Rome felt on top of the world with all the power…
What could go wrong?!

Episode 4 of Survivor did not leave us waiting for the next twist and turn to happen. The drama and energy picked up right where it left off. In fact, the drama and energy only intensified. So much so that I saw online that this was one of the highest-rated episodes of Survivor in the new era!
It truly didn’t disappoint, let’s dive right in.
I’ll start with the Tuku tribe. In this quick section, I mostly want to talk about the beware advantage that Sue got her hands on. It was another version of the caught red-handed beware advantage/idol as we saw in Survivor 42 with Drea Wheeler.
While I think this twist is entertaining for us fans, it is incredibly hard to deal with as a player. The red paint is just so noticeable and messy! These players don’t have a mirror to check themselves out and see if they are clean. I just feel like it’s so easy to get caught. If I were in Sue’s position, I would have dug a hole in the ground and put all the red paint there. Rather than just kind of pushing it all to the side. Then drench myself in the water to clean off haha.
I do think Caroline will know about this idol fairly soon due to being in an alliance with Sue. Also, I think Tiyana might find out about it too due to being suspicious of her.
Moving to the Lavo tribe, I think we need to give a shout-out to two people. Teeny and Genevieve!
I found it awesome how Teeny went to Rome telling him to chill out and went to Sol to apologize for what had happened. It’s a great move socially in the game of Survivor… but it’s also just a great move in real life! It’s things like this that I can see Teeny being a fan favorite and possibly going far in this game.
As for Genevieve, she sort of did the same thing with Sol. She apologized to him and let him know that she had her back. Now Genevieve has the option to choose who she wants to play the game with! Despite Sol and Rome flashing like battering rams, she sort of gets to control where she stands in the game.
I was surprised that nobody found an idol in the Lavo tribe, maybe next week?
Then last but not least, you have the one and only Gata tribe! Maybe I’m still biased but I love how Andy has been playing recently. Yes, the first episode was a major breakdown and he can be a bit clumsy. However, when it comes to the social and strategic parts of the game, he’s made a really nice comeback. While he still might be the number one target, you have to give him credit for the way he has recovered.
Despite them not officially being an alliance at the moment, he’s been able to continuously build trust with Sierra and Sam. Then despite, Sam and Sierra going back and forth on who they should align themselves with… I still for some reason think that they will go with Andy! Although, I do get both their points on why they are unsure. Sam being the only guy on their tribe could be a tough hole to dig out of. Then with Sierra, she doesn’t want to be labeled as the power couple by others and that she has to keep her options open.
Moving to the tribal immunity challenge, there wasn’t too much that I took away from it other than the fact that Rome absolutely fell apart during the puzzle. It kind of goes back to last week’s episode when they showed the strategizing portion before the immunity challenge. We saw how Rome was extremely adamant about doing a certain section of the challenge. He pretty much threatened people that he would be angry with them if they wouldn’t let him do it. It seems as if he wanted to be in that clutch position. You have to think there’s a good chance he did the same thing when it came to this immunity challenge too.
However, this time it was a major error and he didn’t just fall short… he fell flat on his face. I was watching this episode with a friend and we looked at each other at one point because we thought he was throwing this challenge on purpose. Yet, it came out after that he was seriously struggling that bad. It just goes to show you that these puzzles are no joke.
We were gifted with a throwback reward with the egg-laying hens! It’s a reward we haven’t seen a good bit. I could be mistaken, but I don’t think we have seen it at all in the new era of Survivor. As we know, there’s always the moral dilemma that comes with this reward. Do you give the axe to one of the hens for an immediate boost in energy or do you keep them alive to get protein solely from the eggs? I can see both sides. I can see how some people wouldn’t feel comfortable with doing that to one of the hens. However, I can see how people would be willing to go through the hassle to give themselves a better standing in the game physically. What would you do in this scenario?
When it comes to the journey, I think Andy laid it out perfectly when he said, “Is this an opportunity for peace or warfare?” I like the idea of the shared amulet but I think it’s very up in the air to how this will turn out. I could see it going either way even though they claimed they would protect each other.
I liked the twist that one of them had to lose their vote… otherwise, they all would. The quick-paced conversation and decision were fun to watch. I think I would have been okay with either Caroline or Teeny losing their vote. Both of them haven’t had their names said or seem to be on the chopping block any time soon. Whereas, I do think Andy is still technically on the bottom of his tribe and will desperately need his vote.
Personally, I liked how they all handled revealing the journey to their tribes. They all pretty much told the truth. Including Teeny revealing that she didn’t have a vote. By hiding/lying about what went down on the journey, you risk getting yourself in trouble later in the game. Especially because other people hold an amulet too and can rat you out about what actually went down.
Back to the Lavo tribe where Rome is still deadlocked on Sol going home next. However, to ensure it happens, Rome was enticing the idea to use the advantage so Sol could not use his shot in the dark.
Granted, after all that has gone down so far with Rome and this Lavo tribe… There would be a very high possibility I would use the shot in the dark if I was Sol. There’s been enough evidence given that he should probably utilize the advantage (the threat/ultimatum Rome gave him, Rome following Sol around in attempts to keep him away from the idol, etc.). That’s unless somebody else came along to convince him otherwise. Which is exactly what we saw.
With that being said, my M.V.P. of the episode has to go to Genevieve! She arrived in a big way when she finally emerged from the shadows haha. Here is why I think she earned that title:
Once Kishan was just tossing around her name as a replacement, she knew she wasn’t respected as a player and that she would just be glossed over. Well, she decided it was time to change that. By initiating this blindside, she made herself a force to be reckoned with in the matter of only one tribal council. She ended up making herself the threat in the long run, instead of just letting someone else easily become the threat soon.
During this whole episode, Sol and Rome wanted absolutely nothing to do with each other and were gunning for each other to be voted off. Then somehow she was able to flip their motives and influence them to vote on the same side. It’s a huge testament to her social skills and ability to communicate.
I do think Rome stealing Kishan’s vote instead of Sol might have helped seal the deal too. It’s possible Sol saw that happen and was like… okay this is happening.
Despite it being a blindside, she still leaves herself in a solid position on the tribe too. If power stays with Rome, she can continue working with him. If the tribe shifts towards targeting Rome, she has built strong enough relationships where she can work with the others to make that happen.
It also seems like she threw together this plan quickly. She had to be efficient and to the point for this plan to work.
As we know, Kishan was voted out and his reaction was so authentic. It was just complete shock and disbelief. I felt bad for Kishan because I was coming around to him and looking forward to him brewing more chaos. Then you could sense Teeny feel the immediate panic after this vote went down. I can see how she would feel at the bottom, but I don’t think she truly is.
I don’t think anyone is to blame for Kishan going home. Instead, it was just good timing for a strategic move on Genevieve’s part. If anything, maybe Kishan was overly confident and not careful enough about the names he was throwing around. As we know he did like the idea of stirring the pot and brewing chaos.
It’s also fair of me to say that everything has a possibility of changing in the next week! Any predictions I have made so far could be wiped clean haha. That’s because of the new twist that Jeff teased to us in the promo video for next week. Are we going to see a tribe swap for the first time in a long time? No way it’s a merge, right? It could definitely just have to do with a reward challenge too. It’s super exciting and very eager for this next episode to start already! I’m ready for the chaos! I look forward to writing about all of it soon, see you all then. :)
