Is Big Brother BACK?! I think so - Big Brother (Ep. 3-5)

As I scroll on social media, I can’t help but notice the plethora of comments saying how Big Brother is BACK in a big way. Fans from all over seem to love the energy, the drama, and the gameplay that the first week brought. It felt almost as if it was a resurgence for Big Brother.
What a time to start watching Big Brother am I right?! Seriously though, I am glad I started when I did. Eventually, when this season ends, I will need people to tell me which other ones to watch.
I can already tell that this is going to be a very hard show to cover due to the multitudes of conversations, drama, and storylines. A lot is happening all the time partly due to the live feeds. Don’t get me wrong, it makes for incredible television and proves the authenticity of the show. There truly is no show like it. I simply do not have the proper time or energy to stay up to date with everything on the live feeds. Major shoutout to the people on X/twitter who can cover literally anything and everything that is happening on the live feeds. That’s how I have been staying present in what is going on!
So, I am going to do my best to write about as much as possible. I won’t lie, a majority of my thoughts will be derived from the episodes that air. Not the live feeds. Unless it’s really noteworthy. Alright, enough yapping, and let’s get into it.
Being a have-not looks terrible. That room that they have to sleep in looks like it would provide epilepsy and I am praying that they can turn off those lights when they sleep. I couldn’t tell if they even had mattresses to sleep on too. Not only do you get epilepsy, but scoliosis too. Just kidding, I am sure they have mattresses or find ways to make makeshift ones. Dealing with the cold water doesn’t seem terrible. I guess I just don’t understand the purpose of the have-nots. I know this has been a thing for a while now and I am sure there is a reason for it. Yet, currently, it just seems like a way to make life harder for the contestants. Maybe this will get revealed later in the season.
If you have been keeping up with the live feeds, I guarantee that you probably lost track of the alliances. There have been multiple final two promises and countless combinations of alliances made. First of all, it’s so hard to keep up with. Secondly, is it a solid strategy to have all these alliances? It feels like people are saying yes to alliances because they’re scared to hurt someone’s feelings by saying no. I will say, all the contestants are together at all times. It’s not like Survivor where you might be with a smaller group of people with only a certain amount of people to align with. As for Big Brother, you could argue that saying no to alliances could hurt your game too. I think it’s a time when everyone is still getting to know each other and wants to try to keep earning favor in others’ eyes. Hence why people might not hesitate with these alliances.
Also, I get Lisa is just trying to have some fun and bring the energy…but the edible glitter would be too much for me. It also sounds like it could be a drug lol.
The HOH competition wasn’t anything too special for me to be honest. I found it very lame that Makensy and Tucker were not able to compete in it as well. It’s arguably the most important type of competition and they weren’t able to play due to reasons out of their control. The best part was the BB AI Mascots, I thought Cedric and Chelsie were absolutely hilarious. At the same time, Angela brings an unhinged amount of energy, good for her for winning!
Head of Household will just mean more this year! Especially with the aspect of nominating 3 people for eviction. Holding that power allows for a significant advantage. After Angela won HOH this week, you could notice more people willingly talking game with her or spending time with her. It’s an opportunity to strategize and align with people without the fear of elimination. For example, Quinn straight-up told her about the advantage he had. Quinn seems like a great dude, I just wish he didn’t reveal his advantage to the first HOH during the first week. I’ve realized that word can travel fast in the Big Brother house.
At the point of Angela’s nominations, it seemed like her reasoning was to choose the people she hadn’t talked to as much. It’s a safe option, but maybe not as strategic. Personally, I wasn’t as much of a fan of her decisions.
Well, it’s without any doubt that the best storyline(s) this week came from the rivalry between Matt and Angela. Seriously it felt like there wasn’t a day that went by that didn’t have drama between those two… and I am here for it. A little spice won’t hurt anyone, right?
I will start by saying this, I am not for Angela or Matt. I think they both have their wrongs in this heavyweight bout. Angela brings a lot of energy. Sometimes it’s a positive fun energy and other times it’s concerning/uncontrollable. It became the concerning/uncontrollable energy when she simply wouldn’t stop stereotyping Matt as a showmance, talking smack (even if it was playful), and not biting her tongue. As for Matt, he is kind of an airhead at times and it seems as if he is talking at people, not with them. I don’t think he means any harm, but in this game, you have to be so careful with how you say things. Matt wasn’t very careful when it came to his social/strategic game. For example, Matt’s “verbal threat” of saying he was going to campaign against Angela was not the smartest thing to say. The last thing about Matt is that he was overly confident about his standing in this game. He’s a good guy but just didn’t have what it takes for Big Brother.
To go even further, Angela’s paranoia is downright ridiculous. Having the camera feeds in her HOH room probably didn’t help that either. The paranoia was so much that she was convinced to cause a scene by calling Matt out in front of the group. Calling him things like “crazy eyes” and a “brat”. It makes for fun television, but she did not need to bring Makensy into that. That was unnecessary. The dramatics from her are quite laughable and she’s extremely critical of the people she doesn’t trust. On the other side, the drama between these two will go down in the history books. It’s electric to watch.
I really hope that the way Angela is acting isn’t fake. Like I hope that she isn’t just doing this persona or character for the cameras. I hope she is being authentic to herself and not just living for the cameras/fame. She has already been on a Dr. Phil episode, so I am unsure of what is real and fake with her.
If I am a contestant on the show, I think Angela is an easy out for the next week or so. As a fan and watcher of the show, I hope Angela brings the energy for a good bit.
Moving on… I loved that veto competition! Personally, it’s been my favorite competition/challenge so far. It was the perfect blend of physical and mental. Props to the game creators for thinking of the “delete” tile. It just adds another layer of difficulty to an already challenging game. It gives me hope as I was let down by the prior competitions. I only had one small gripe with the challenge of how some tiles could easily be mixed up as M/W or N/Z. Lisa was impressive in that challenge. Even if she does rub people the wrong way, she’s a threat in this game.
Moving towards the live eviction episode, I will start by saying that I am very happy Makensy didn’t use that advantage for Matt. She earned that thing and she should use it for her game and not throw it away. Even if the showmance was a thing, I am glad she didn’t go with the emotional decision. I think it shows that she is there for the game and there to play! She even mentioned that she needed to put herself first.
I don’t get Kenney at all. I understand you don’t want to go against your ally in Matt, but you don’t have a choice! You signed up and sacrificed a lot to be there. Do not just go throw it away. This is a time when I agree with Angela. He just kept going back on forth saying whether he was going to try in the competition or if he even wanted to be there.
I never really thought Kimo was going to be evicted from the house due to the others on the block. Yet, I felt bad for him! He had to go through all the stress and worry of being on the block when he probably didn’t deserve to be there.
Cedric and Chelsie who were at a complete disadvantage and the easiest targets ever this week… left the week unscathed. They had an easy week, dressed up as funny mascots, and made good relationships. I look at them as long-term players in this season of Big Brother.
Speaking of the AI Arena competition, there was just something about the live competition that made my heart start pumping. It was electric and made for awesome TV! My only issue with the AI arena is that it makes it so hard to strategize your eviction votes. You have to plan out three different scenarios and it was genuinely confusing trying to figure out who was voting for who. It makes it harder to reveal who you are voting for. I am still undecided on this format but I am curious to see how it plays out more.
Let me know what you think about this new format?!?
I think once Kimo won the competition to get himself off the block, we had a good feeling Matt would be going home. Yet, it was not unanimous! I hope we can continue to get some closer votes as the season goes on. Also, they gave Kenney and Matt absolutely zero time to talk/breathe. I felt like there was no chance they could have meaningful time to save themselves between the competition and the votes. I hope they fix that format.
I will be honest, I am a sucker for good sportsmanship. I loved how Matt apologized to Angela if he hurt her feelings (which clearly he did) and how he took his eviction like a champ. As for Angela, I was annoyed to see how she celebrated his defeat during the challenge or showed no remorse when he got voted out. Yet, I understand how it’s been a long week and a lot of emotions have been brewing.
It looks like the drama continues for next week! I’ve already seen some gems on the live feeds for this week and can’t wait to see it unfold on the episodes. Here are my top 3 predictions as it stands as to who I think will win this season of Big Brother: Cedric, Makensy, and Brooklyn (these are subject to change based on what happens!). Talk to you next week, can’t wait!
