I told myself I was going to try and cover all the big Reality TV gameshows. Conveniently enough, the first show that is airing after starting this blog is The Bachelorette on ABC.
While you wouldn’t think a young, married, sport-loving guy like me is a part of Bachelor Nation, you might want to think again. Survivor and The Amazing Race are indeed my first love when it comes to reality TV gameshows. However, the Bachelor (or Bachelorette) is not to be forgotten at all. The Bachelor is over 22 years old and first aired in March of 2002. With that being said, I know there are countless passionate fans regarding this television series and I want to connect with that fanbase as well. You will not be missed and you will be heard Bachelor Nation!
Plus, my wife is a big fan of the show and she gets control of the remote on Monday nights when it’s on. Chivalry is not dead.
So, I will be watching and taking notes as best as I can! My goal is to have the blog out and published in the short days after the shows air. All I ask is that you have patience with me as I won’t always know the ins and outs of the show. I do have some background watching the latest Bachelor in Paradise and Joey’s season of the Bachelor thanks to my wife, Lauren. I know of past seasons’ drama through social media and my sister and mom watching the show together at our childhood home. Oh, and I love the gifs/ memes that this show always provides. They make me chuckle.
If there’s anything you want me to cover throughout this journey, please reach out and let me know!
So, let’s talk more about our newest Bachelorette. I would say I am pretty familiar with Jenn from watching Joey’s season of The Bachelor like everyone else. I also remember a lot of people on social media being unsatisfied with the selection for her to be the Bachelorette too. Fans were hoping for the likes of Maria or Daisy instead. Seeing others as better candidates. I will admit, even I was surprised at first. From watching the season, Jenn went far but I never felt as deep of a connection with her. I say that as a viewer and regarding her connection with Joey. It will be interesting to see if they can go even further with her story this season. So far from what we’ve seen, her family is super supportive. Despite this being a very non-traditional way of finding love.
It is amazing news that Jenn does make history by becoming the first Asian American Bachelorette. It’s an awesome moment for the Asian community to get representation on such a big stage. Even Jenn understands the importance of it and she mentioned that she is ready to make her culture proud. I hope they allow Jenn to show off more of her culture on this world stage.
I want to take a moment to give a big props to all the reality television gameshows nowadays. They have grown so much in their diversity, equity, and inclusion efforts. It’s cool to see people of all different sorts being represented on television game shows. This cast of The Bachelorette is included in that compliment!
Also, someone who deserves more love is Jesse Palmer. He’s such a good calming presence for the Bachelor/Bachelorette. It just seems like everyone gets along with him.
Here’s a fun side story: When Chris Harrison stepped away from the role of the host, I told my wife and family that I felt like I could do that role nicely. Welp, I never received a phone call from the Bachelor Nation. Hey, if anything happens, you know who to call.
To save you all from reading a novel, I split it up into three separate blogs. You’ll be free to read them all at your leisure because they will all get published at the same time. A lot of information gets thrown your way in the season premieres, so it will probably be easier to cover this way and probably easier for you all to enjoy too. Look out for a blog on the highlights of the entrances/introductions and another on the cocktail hour/rose ceremony. You won’t want to miss it. Looking forward to the deep dive of the Bachelorette and I hope you all will enjoy it with me!
Giving your wife the remote on Monday nights is chivalrous? Talk to me on September 23rd.
