Second Group Date
There wasn’t much in the second group date that caught my eye but here are some of my takeaways:
The photo shoot looked fun and the outfits were kind of awesome
That clear physical attraction towards Sam M (Sexy Cowboy) is still there… but will it turn into more of an emotional connection?
Hakeem is probably my favorite contestant this season. He’s just such a vibe and is so much fun. Like he is someone I would want to hang out with him. His reaction to the spider was the best moment of the episode for me and it had me audibly laughing. I hope Jenn gives him more of a shot!
Dylan stepped up with the snake when Jenn was scared. Well done, I think that’s what earned him the extra dinner date. Yet on that date, while good conversations were happening, I just didn’t feel the sparks. I didn’t leave that conversation thinking he moved up much on the list or that he could be there at the end. Obviously, I could be wrong though.
Sam M’s jealous side has been coming out more and more.
Probably the biggest thing was that there was no cocktail hour for the guys who didn’t get the extra date. They were just all sent back home annoyed. Especially Thomas N. So much so that they asked if the other guys in the house would be fair and respect their time with Jenn during the final cocktail hour. Devin even acknowledged to them that he wouldn’t just fall back in line but noticed that they deserved time with Jenn too. This might be something that wasn’t shown, but I noticed that none of the gentlemen on the second group date asked specifically to go get time first in the cocktail hour.
Final Cocktail Hour and Rose Ceremony
We already talked about Aaron vs Devin earlier, but holy cow Aaron just won’t let this go! I am hoping that Aaron has actually read that self-control book that he gave to Devin. It might be helpful to re-read it man. Why does he have this need to analyze and fix everything Devin is doing? It got to a point where I started to think Aaron was the stubborn or arrogant one. Is he here for Jenn or to play therapist?
For example, Aaron mentioned how he’s trying to care for him in a loving/supportive way but then comes back a sentence later saying that he lacks depth/is a bully. Seems a little hypocritical. I wish he would just take a step back and check himself before spearheading this conversation in full force. At this point, Devin is just apologizing to him to probably finish the conversation. I recall Aaron at one point saying that Devin is thinking all about himself and not about anyone else (the other gentlemen, that is). Is he supposed to be thinking about them too?
What I will say is… great casting by the ABC/Bachelor Nation. It’s making for excellent television.
I understand how Devin might do certain things in a way that is boastful, cocky, or arrogant. I can realize how that could be irritating to some of the guys there. I can recognize that how he acts could be unattractive to certain people. Hey, maybe I am backing him up too much haha! However, you also have to realize that that’s his personality and I don’t think he is intentionally trying to dupe the others. Again, I am not saying that Devin is doing things correctly, but he shouldn’t have to change himself based on what others think. I thought that the Brian vs Jeremy rivalry would be electric. Boy, was I wrong. That got dumped real quickly for this new one.
To continue, Devin steals Jenn away for a chat first in the cocktail which immediately sets some of the guys off. So much so that Thomas N marches his way up them, not to ask for time with Jenn but instead legit pull Devin away to argue with him. I found this pretty disrespectful towards Devin, and definitely towards Jenn. Especially considering that Jenn could hear all of it. As a viewer, I think these guys have been way too focused on what other people are doing rather than what they should do.
Thomas N claimed that Devin said he would let the other gentlemen go first. Based on what we saw, that was never said at all. In the argument, Thomas N mentioned that there was a place
in line that Devin had to follow. This brings up the conversation of fairness again as I mentioned in the previous blog! These complaints are somewhat laughable to me. What is crossing the line with these guys? Someone is going to look at Jenn a certain way and another will take exception to that. If I were Jenn, I would tell them to take a step back and take a breath.
I won’t lie, I was pleased when Jenn respectfully told Thomas N off and it was nice to see Devin apologize to the other guys if he had crossed a line. I do think it was wrong of them to continue hashing it out outside of the building. I get it, it’s the heat of the moment and you want to defend yourself. Luckily Jenn wasn’t out there to witness that ugliness. Thomas N is not a bad dude, I think he just got caught up in a bad moment.
By the way, Sam M’s light green suit was an incredible look. He stays looking good… don’t worry I am happily married.
Spencer is a great conversationalist and a gentleman! I would like to see more of him in the next coming episodes.
As for the rose ceremony, I think it went pretty closely to what I thought would happen. I was wondering if either Aaron or Thomas N would get sent home. Yet, both stayed. The producer wanted to continue the drama, wink wink. Again, I am very happy for Hakeem! Just a vibes guy that you need to have around. I think Jenn even knows he is all for the vibes too.
Jahaan, John, and Brian unfortunately got booted. This means I could not have been more wrong about the Brian vs Jeremy rivalry. It stinks because I still feel as if these guys didn’t get the screen time they deserved after sacrificing a lot to be out there. Best of luck to those guys in the future!
Based on the promo video for next week, it looks like the drama will only continue with the same faces. Though, it looks like another guy is going to get in the mix! One that I wouldn’t have predicted necessarily. Sexy cowboy… I mean Sam M! I can’t wait to see all the drama of what’s fair and what’s not. See you next week :)
